AI Fullstack Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior AI Software Engineer to join a fully remote engineering team working on a mature cloud-based WordPress platform while contributing to an evolving AI-driven roadmap.
This role combines deep backend expertise with modern AI tooling, focused on improving accessibility to career services within the higher education space.
You will collaborate closely with a small, cross-functional team to design, build, and scale impactful features, while influencing architectural decisions and engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in backend web development

• Strong hands-on experience with complex WordPress systems (multisite, custom plugins/themes, performance optimization at scale)

• Proven experience owning infrastructure and architecture decisions in production environments

• Solid understanding of relational database design Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows

• Experience participating in code reviews and pull request processes

• Comfortable leveraging AI coding assistants in daily development workflows

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams

• Upper-intermediate or higher level of English

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS (CDK, ECS, Lambda, CloudWatch, Bedrock)

• Experience with AI/ML stacks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Langfuse, VoyageAI

• Knowledge of Python, FastAPI, and MongoDB Frontend experience with TypeScript and React

• Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., FERPA, PCI), ideally within edtech or higher education

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend solutions within a WordPress-based platform

• Own and contribute to architectural decisions, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability

• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver high-impact features

• Participate actively in code reviews, ensuring high-quality standards

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes

• Leverage AI tools to improve development efficiency and code quality

• Ensure observability, monitoring, and system performance in production environments

• Communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and articulate the business impact of delivered features

• Drive projects from concept through delivery with a strong outcome-oriented mindset
